Communication Advisor-Nordic Statistics

Nordregio is currently seeking a new team member to strengthen our statistical communication and dissemination. This position focuses on translating complex data into accessible insights, with a particular emphasis on the statistical databases Nordregio manages. By joining us, you will help bring numbers to life, making statistics meaningful for policymakers and practitioners.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and maintain communication strategies for the Nordic Statistics Database and the health and social statistics database NOMESCO-NOSOSCO.
- Present Nordic statistics in engaging and innovative ways, including data visualisations, articles, infographics and social-media content.
- Update the databases websites and advise on development of web content.
- Support the planning of seminars, and webinars showcasing statistical findings.
- Advise Nordregio researchers about communicating statistical findings.
- Support Nordregio’s wider communications activities – from website updates and newsletters to social-media content– ensuring statistical relevance where appropriate.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, data journalism, communication, statistics, or a social science degree.
- Five years’ experience in data-driven communication – for example as a data journalist, statistical communicator, or research communicator.
- Strong skills in data storytelling: turning datasets into clear narratives.
- Familiarity with statistical databases and tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, or similar), as well as good command of Office, web publishing systems, and other digital communications tools.
- Excellent editorial skills, including writing for non-expert audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Fluency in English as well as one Nordic language.
What we offer
The position starts as soon as possible, or subject to agreement at our offices in Stockholm. Nordregio offers contracts with a maximum length of four years. Subject to further agreement, the contract can be extended for up to four additional years. If you are currently employed by the State in a Nordic country, you are entitled to a leave of absence from your present position for the duration of your employment at Nordregio according to the agreement “Avtale om rettstilling for samnordiske institusjoner og deres ansatte”. Candidates relocating from another Nordic country to Sweden are offered a relocation package as well as a monthly salary addition.
